No apologies

I promised myself when I first started blogging again that I would do this for me. I would not allow the blog to take over my life, and I would not apologize for times when I didn't post.  Life happens---and it's been happening around here.  I haven't posted in a week, and I'm okay with that.

Here are some random updates....

In my last post, I mentioned that I didn't know if I would have a job after June 30th.  That has been resolved.  Our contract has been extended for a year, and if all goes well, it will be extended the full three years.  There are still details that need to be hashed out, but we can get back to doing our jobs.

I big goal of mine for April was to transition my runs outside.  I had run 5K (3.1 miles) 4 times on the treadmill, but I know if I am going to run a 5K race, I need to learn to run outside.  I had run 2 miles (without stopping) twice.  Last Saturday, I ran the full 5K outside.  My kids were there cheering me on and bringing me my water bottle each lap.  And I told them where I was going to stop running (mid-lap) for cool down, and they met me there and walked me in.

I am really starting to get excited about the idea of a running a 5K race. (I can't believe I said that!) I really wish it was sooner!! (Not in July!)

I've discovered I'm not so much as stress eater as I am a stress drinker.  No, I don't need to go to AA.  When I'm stressed out I drink Pepsi.  I didn't drink any Pepsi for about 6 or 7 weeks (basically Lent season), but then I started drinking an occasional one. Then another.  I have not come anywhere close to what I used to drink (2-3 64 ounce fountains a day).  But I have had 2 or 3 smaller ones a day.  And, that also means my water had decreased a bit.  I'm still drinking, but not as much.  I'm gonna have to work on that.

I've started adding more weight stuff to my routines. I met with the trainer for the orientation at the gym.  I decided I'm going to brave the main floor area where the guys work out because the machines are newer and easier to adjust and use than the "women's only area".  On Wednesday and today, I did a bunch of body weight leg exercises (no time at the gym).  On Thursday, I did the arm machines at the gym.

Our gym group (co-workers and family members) is up to 13 people!

Today we took a trip to Albuquerque (3 hours each direction) because I won a $2 Lottery scratcher. I didn't believe it at first.  But I have the big fake check to prove it!

  1. WHOO HOO on your wins! I have a group at work that's plays the PB every week. We're hoping for a win one day. AND on your outside running! YAY! That's awesome. I have rested my hip for two weeks and I am SO ready to get back to it this week. Of course the weather isn't going to cooperate, so I'll be back at the gym.

  6. That's awesome Julie - glad to see that good things happen to good people! :)

I missed your blog for sure, but I was a little worried that something bad had happened and you went on a Pepsi binge. I'm so glad to see I was wrong, and you're still doing great!
