Exhausted and Sore

After a relaxing morning, I had to pick my teenager up from band practice.  I decided to go ahead and put on my workout clothes so there would be no excuses later.  This included my straight jacket (aka sports bra). The motivation worked, I headed to the gym to walk and do W4D2 of C25K.  (It's been an entire week since I did W4D1, but who's counting?)

Some experienced C25Kers recommended starting slow. I can always increase speed later. I've taken their advice, and normally run about 2.5 MPH. Today, I kept all my runs (all 16 minutes of them!) at 3.0 MPH or higher. (as high as 3.5).  Toward the end of the final 5 minute run, I thought I was going to die!  I started quoting Scripture verses like:
Those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will RUN and no grow weary. They will walk and no faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
By my God, I can RUN through a troop and leap over a wall. (2 Samuel 22:30)
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)
When I finished the final run, I kept going until I had finished 2 miles (45 minutes). But I didn't stop there. I went over to the weight machines and spent another 17 minutes on my arms and legs.

When I finished, I took my stinky self out to do a few errands.  After walking around both Sam's Club and Wal-Mart, I came home and spent a couple of hours making homemade pizza (including the dough).  I finally got the kitchen cleaned up, and I am sore and exhausted. But, in a way, I feel good.  I worked hard today.

I'm a little worried about next week.  All of the girls in my office are going to Albuquerque (3 hours away) for a training.  They have already said we'll be going to Weck's for breakfast.  Weck's motto is "A Full Belly Tradition since 1991", so you can imagine the type of meals they serve.  I looked at the nutrition information to give me an idea of what to expect.  Oh my word! Most of the meals are upward of 800 calories each.  Many are around 1200 each.  The highest I saw was 2567!  That is almost 2 days worth of calories!  No thank you.

I really haven't had too many opportunities to worry about eating out since I started eating healthy.  We've picked up Subway a couple of times, and I ordered off the healthy menu at Applebee's for our anniversary. I picked up some healthy snacks to help keep me from munching on junk.

  1. Wow what a day you had, good for you with all the exercising you did. That is fantastic.

As for going out next week with the girls, if that is your only option, try to order the meal close to the 800 calorie and after ordering immediately ask for a box and divide the meal in half. Even if you should throw it out later, so what, how often does something like this happen? I really don't know about you but for me, I couldn't even tell you how many times I have wasted stuff.

Just a thought, hope it may help you.

Stay healthy, stay happy and stay safe
    Many hugs
