Workout Saga

It's 9 pm, and I finally got my workout in.

Warning....long and rambling ahead!

Somedays it's easy to get in my workout.  Somedays....not so much.  Often I walk before I start my work day.  But today, I had an early appointment.  Sometimes I walk just before lunch, but I had appointments all morning.  I should have gone after lunch, but it just didn't work out.

Normally I have a class on Wednesday evening, but we took this week off.  After everyone but my youngest was gone and I got the kitchen cleaned up, I decided to work out.

I had had Googled some YouTube videos that I wanted to try.  So I started there.  Aidan (my 7 year old) was watching MineCraft videos on my TV.  So I went into the living room. (We only recently got a TV in the living room, and it only has cable.)

Strike 1. My iPad was dead.  So I plugged it in and got my husband's iPad.

Strike 2. The video kept pausing to buffer.  It's hard to get a good cardio workout when the screen keeps freezing. So I got out the Wii Fit balance board and went to the kids' room to use the Wii Fit Plus

Strike 3. After (literally!) dusting off the board, wiping down the cover, and changing the batteries, I turned on the Wii and the balance board wouldn't sync.  This was after the Wii Fit told me it was nice to see me after 988 days! (Yep, that's almost 3 years!) I switched to Zumba Fitness 2 for the Wii.

Strike 4. But I just could not keep up. So I pulled out the EA Active

Strike 5. After updating my profile (Changing age from 39-43 and adding 30 pounds) I started. I have no idea where the thigh holder is on the EA active, and it wouldn't recognize my move without it. So I tried Jillian Michael's Fitness Ultimatum 2010.

Strike 6. I started with a 5 minute run. Even though Jillian Michael's Fitness Ultimatum 2010 said the balance board was optional, it kept asking for a balance board.  So I tried one more time to connect the balance board.

Strike 7. No luck. Aidan was done in my room, so I decided to try YouTube again.  I tried several video hubs, but I just couldn't find one that worked. By this time it was almost 8 o'clock and I knew I was running out of time.  I almost gave up.  I actually did give up---but then I decided I was not going to let it beat me.

Homerun!

I knew I did not have the energy after all of this to do a Zumba type workout.  So I searched for walking fitness.  I found an old Leslie Sansone one called "Walk Away the Pounds for Abs".
There were 4 basic steps: walk in place, step-touch, kicks, and lifts. I didn't have to think too much.  And I walked 3 miles. And I burned almost 400 calories.

  1. Sometimes we have days like this. I like using the WII and I use EA Active and Zumba too. Even if you can't keep up just move. That is a start. Tomorrow is a new day!
